TEXAS in Spring

Post by GypsyRR »

The Texas Wildflowers are blooming along the highways and back roads now. If you’ve never seen Central and East Central Texas in Spring, you really should try to do so within the next couple of weeks or next year. Here area some shots I got yesterday.

Somewhere north of Brenham, I was on a ‘detour’ until I could find my chosen route. Nice detour though.

This is in Independence, TX

Along FM 390 – That is the state flower of Texas – the Bluebonnet

This is what it looks like up close:

These were the friendliest cows I’ve ever been around. They followed me everywhere trying to get their picture taken.

This one was a little suspicious:

On another ‘detour’ I saw this Great Dane and other dog running down the road behind a truck – the driver of the truck told me this is how he walks his dogs. This was a great motorcycle road and once I figure out where I was, I’ll ride it again.

Come to Texas - It’s warm and beautiful in Spring (and winter too).

Great pictures GypsyRR....and it's beautiful countryside that you have there.

It's nice to see green because we have been in drought and everything here is looking very brown.

Wow. Those bluebonnets are nice !! Very nice photos, Gypsy.

We're just coming out of winter here and the snow only recently melted away. Now its raining. So much for our 300 days of sunshine :?

I especially like these two shots:

I can never get cows to like me. Maybe it's because they know that I like them so much!

Great pictures - keep them coming!

Herb:

Red Dirt - that would be far North Texas near Oklahoma

Red Sauce - You probably mean Picante Sauce and that would be just about anywhere in Texas, except fields. But mostly it is found dribbled on the dress shirts and ties of Texas men along with some tortilla chip crumbs.

It's best NOT to give it to babies although we do have a flavor of Gerber's baby food called Picante:

Nice photos Gypsy! The bluebonnets remind me of the lupine we have out here in California. So far, not a sign of lupine but our state flower the California poppy is just starting to bloom.

Beautiful!
That bull is suspicious because he has to big tags stapled to his ears. I'd be suspicious too.

Wow - great shots Gypsy. Those bluebonnets are beautiful.
I had the same impressions Herb had about TX, and I've been there a bazillion times....only ever got to see highways and cities though...mainly Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin.

Keep 'em coming.
