Suspension

Post by Lupo »

I know the routine on conventional suspension but how do I adjust/check the sag on my R? I come up with some big measurement differences and can't seem to figure what or where to check. I still have stock shocks with low miles. :?

The recommended sag is a third of the total travel which, according to the manual, is 135 mm for the rear suspension.

135/3=45mm

To set the sag, I measure the distance between a point on the FD and a point on the frame. I take the measurement twice: once with the bike on the centerstand, and once with as much of my weight on the bike as possible. The difference between the two measurments should be equal to 45mm.

Obviously, you need two people to do the measurment, that is unless you are super-well equipped:

Arbreacames, thank you for the reply. This will help as my other bikes set even and it wasn't working on the BMW. Thanks again.
