Drive Shaft Maintenance ???

So is there any ?
If so, what and at what frequency ?
What does one watch for ? Signs of a problem ?

Ric,
There are splines at both ends, apparently, and they have been known to wear prematurely. Supposedly, they don't need greasing, but some people take them apart and apply their own insurance grease to make sure. I have never had the gumption or desire to go that far with it and I have had no problems at 56,000 miles on my 1150. (knock on wood)
There is a set of big bearings in the final drive that have to be replaced if they ever start grinding down or whatever.
I just know enough about all this to get into trouble, so maybe some others who have more first hand knowledge will chime in.
To avoid some problems I typically change out the final drive grease with each oil change and take a look to see if any metal shavings are running out with the lube.

When I had my R1200R in for it's 600 mile check up the techs changed out my drive lube and stated that BMW had thought that is was not necessary but had changed their minds.
