Fall in Morgan Territory Regional Preserve

I'm fortunate to live very close to this beautiful preserve and this is my favorite time of the year to explore it. I often do trail runs and mountain bike rides in the preserve itself but just getting there is also fun since the road leading through the park is no wider than your basic goat path. You certainly can't go fast but that's ok with me. Sometimes it's nice to take it slow and easy and just enjoy the scenery.

I put together a short slide show from my ride today that I hope you enjoy. It has sound to it so if you're at work, you may want to turn the volume down.

Damn, Michael, that was just exceptional work, truly. You are an exceptional photographer and the slide show really tells a story, which is more than just the photos, a real gestalt product. Loved it. Makes me want to get out today with some of that music playing in my earphones.

Chris - I store all of my edited digital files on two separate 500 GB external hard drives stored in two different locations. I use a small (no bigger than my hand) portable 40 GB hard drive to transfer the files to the 2nd hard drive. My favorite images are burned to DVD's. For those shots of me riding the bike, I used a remote set up, 2 Pocket Wizard Multi Max's. Very pricey, but they work very well. I use them a lot for work, where I need to put my cameras in places I can't shoot from.

Dave, Morgan Territory Road basically connects Clayton with Livermore along the southeast shoulder of Mount Diablo. An easy day trip from your neck of the woods.

Yes, two are quite expensive but they offer me peace of mind because you never know when a hard drive will fail - and they all do at some point.

Sounds like you are really enjoying that new camera of yours Chris...good for you!

You're right, I love this thing! Starting to understand all the manual operations now but there's so much adjustment it'll take a while and a lot of practice. Keep yours coming, I like the ideas they put in my head!

Up to now I've been backing up images on two computers at home, DVD's and, ahem, my office pc as well. Just in case....

I find it hard to know what to bin. When it's family pics I tend to keep the lot unless they're awful but they rarely get looked at. With this I'm going to be more ruthless and only keep the ones I really like.

Thank you for the very nice pics.

It seems we share two common things - passion for a black R1150R and passion for photography.

I would like to ask a couple of questions:

-I like to ride very much similar roads as the ones on your pics. Do you have any modificaion on the bike (handlebar , foot pegs ... ? )

- Where do you carry the photographig gear ? I assume you use quite big cameras and being the owner of a Canon 5D and a couple of "L" lenses I have not found how to carry them securely.

The road you see in the slideshow is just a small one lane road near my home. It's paved so no mods needed on the R

It is curious how many of us like photography next to motorbike on a "R" (maybe it has to do with the nice feeling the 1150 R has).

Normally the trails are in good shape, so after the comments I have seen in the forum I will try to ride on them with the 115 R.
