I hate coming home after this 4500 mile trip...............

Post by Lost Rider »

I'm finally home after my trip out west and back.
Here's a link to my website with all the trip's photo's, info, and a few slideshows.
It is a work in progress. Lots of pics to sort.
Thanks to all for the endless resources found here, this trip wouldn't have happened without it.

Joe

Great trip Joe. Pics are fantastic!!

I know what you mean by 'hating to come home'.

Nice job on the packing as well. Amazing how much stuff you can pack on these bike and just go.

So now that you've got the bug...where & when is the next trip?

Thanks for posting. Always nice to see where others have travelled.

Thanks Lorne! I love that feeling of riding my bike all packed knowing we are self-suffiecient. ( except for gas )
I travel all the time while working, and live here because I always love coming home to Chicago. Well, that feeling is gone. I hated coming home. I can only imagine how you must have felt having been gone for much longer.

Oh, yes I've got the bug. I'm going to take a trip to Florida in January. Now that I have done some more cold weather riding, I know what my limits are, and I'm just a heated vest away from riding in winter, at least to go south were I can shed my layers. I figure I can be in some mildly warm weather in about 8 hours from Chicago. You up for a trip this winter?

Of all the temps I rode in I think 60 F is perfect.
I hate the heat, like the cold. Phoenix was miserable.
We got caught in a hell of a snowstorm going over a pass in Colorado at 10,500 feet. It was quite an experience, but I always felt confident on the R. The Pilot tires were great and my childhood dirtbike riding experience payed off. Just go real slow. :)

We camped 7 night out of 12. The days we did over 500 miles we stayed in a hotel, and then the one night we were in the snow. :)
I dropped her off in Phoenix so she could fly home to work. 7 days 2up, then I was solo for 5 days. I liked both parts of the trip, and can't wait to get out there again.

Riding and camping is such a joy, but being able to do it with your significant other would be so much more special.

Fantastic site!
