I am hoping that someone here has some info on what side cases work on an R1100R. I have a (recently acquired) box that has the front lower mounting brackets (ears) that do not meet the bracket that is on my bike. My bracket is mounted on the rear half of the rear footpeg. It is fully 7 and 1/2 " away from the rim of the wheel. The box that doesn't seem to fit has it attachment point much closer to the wheel, 3 and 1/2". The guy that is selling me this box says my set up is odd and that the box should fit. I believe that my bike and box are stock and his is the odd part. It has been told to me by 2 dealer parts counters that the box may be a rare part made for a K1200.
Here is the request, can someone who has an r1100r measure from the bracket point mounted on the footpeg to the wheel's egde/tire bead? this should solve the mystery of what is "odd".
If his part is the odd one then he says he will take the box back and refund my $$.

ps, this is all an effort to switch to a bigger boxe for the lowered muffler.

I have just resolved the issue with the seller. I will return the box to him. Stock lower front brackets are the same on almost all r1100's. They also seem to be compatible with the r1150.
This box is indeed an odd one.

You don't say which side the box is for, but I'm assuning it's the right side since you don't mention clearance problems with the exaust. I bet it's an RT case. The spacing for the lower mount sounds about right. The easiest fix for tht is to pop rivet a pair of angle brackets to the case to locate that lower foot. I bought the RT case for the left side to get more space.

Don't be too hasty. To my knowledge the only bags that fit the stock R bracket are those that are cut out to clear the muffler. All the other bikes use the bracket that is closer to the wheel. This thread shows how I solved the problem.

You either need to move the bracket or modify the case. If you buy the stock BMW parts to lower your muffler you will get a new bracket.
