I have the Cycle World road test and they loved it. BMW is finally going for performance, even in it's Std "-R" bikes. I looked it over
very closely at BMW Marrietta GA today. Serviceability looks excellent, much better than my bike.
The MSRP was a heart stopping shock! Very modern looking, especially the tail section. I liked the smaller/lighter/visible plastic DOT4 reservoirs, new stacked gauges, techie wheels, dual element headlight, leaner switchgear, seat . . . everything. The canister is a Cambell's Chunky Soup 18.8oz can sized component hidden between the front shock and the twin H4 bulb headlight shell. The whole bike says lighter/leaner/faster/better. There isn't one part carried over from the OilHead series bikes. Nothing!
If I was still working . . . . and not on retirement income, I'd a be trading up by this time next year. Let's see, $12,700 MSRP + $235 heated grips + $120 CenterStand + $450 "delivery" + $$$ bags + tags and Taxes (minus) pideling trade in amount = OUCH.
It looks like
THIS BIKE will be the only M/C in my garage for
a lotta years.
