Whoa, I kicked my ABS in on the street!
That was wild! Some damn fool tore ass right out of a driveway right in front of me and I just CREAMED the front and rear brakes. KLUNKKLUNKKLUNK.
For a porker, the R1150R sure stops on a dime, lordy. Glad I got the ABS...

the brakes
Glad to hear that they saved you in the split second of need. There is nothing like a major emergency to make you grab a handful and clench the adrenalin gland as hard as the brakes.
The ABS brakes on my 1150 are nothing short of stunning. I'm a strong guy and it is all that I can do to hang on when the are biting in. I'd like to buy the guys who figured them out a beer!

From what I've read, it seems to split between experienced riders and new riders. If you've ridden a lot and have "the skills," then ABS becomes a nuisance to your already learned and established riding habits. If you're a newbie, like myself, the ABS is very appealing and we have nothing to compare it to or "unlearn" to appreciate them. I, for one, will buy an ABS bike. But I do understand that I may be missing an opportunity to learn some braking techniques that may come in handy some day; and, as far as I've read, the system cannot be disabled. ??? So I guess I'll have to practice on someone else's ride. Haha.
Won't be my father-in-law's FJR 1300 though....its got ABS too.

Re: the brakes
On my old SV650 I probably would've panicked a bit and done a crazy stoppie and maybe bumped the guy. But with the ABS, the bike just play stopped. In any case, I'm glad I have the ABS. It's a little weird to get used to (that plus the telelever), but I definitely think it was worth the money.jfbarron wrote:Glad to hear that they saved you in the split second of need.
