Hmmm... that's good info about the instruments on a plane, though I don't travel with instruments, I like to be aware of my rights. I have to travel with small tools, and the TSA rule recently changed to allow most of them, but I havn't tried it because I don't usually get to the airport early enough to deal with any major hassle.

I do,however, carry a print out with important sections highlighted regarding the law about turning left on a red light from a two-way street to a one way. This is totally legal in Washington, though most people don't know it. I do it every day downtown on the way home.

One day I was pulled over (while driving my car) by an unmarked suburban with red and blue flashing lights. It was a homeland security cop (the guys that guard the federal building). He came running up to my car screaming and yelling about blowing a red light. I said "Oh, sorry, I thought I came to a complete stop before I turned left". Which he said I did, but REALLY let me have it for going left on the red light after I stopped. I explained that I believe it is perfectly legal. This made the guy yell at me more... I mean really yell. I was totally polite, but firm the whole time. I suggested that he ask the Seattle police to come over so they could write me a ticket... Then he said that I had better drive home and study up on my driving laws because I'm wrong,.. and he drove off. Pretty funny. Ever since I have carried a printed copy of the law with me just hoping he will pull me over again.
