Question (again) About Givi Topbox Install

I got my bike back today and my neighbor helped me put the Givi on to the mount. Then I took it out to see if it made a difference in handling and noticed a problem with it. The bottom of the mount does not sit flush with the BMW rack and so it is bouncing against the rack as I ride - the exposed bolts are scratching the rack. Is there a fix for this?

The picture shows where the bolts closest to the pillion are scratching the rack.

It doesn't look like you're using the right mount, Kristi. Try the 2002-04 BMW K1200RS soft bag black plate with enclosed lock. It snaps onto the Roadster back rack. I used one with the soft bag and the hard bag. (I just may have one around, somewhere).

Hi Kristi,

When I bought a Givi-knockoff top case, I wound up buying the Givi adapter plate which replaces the BMW rack.

Okaaaay! I took a closer look at your picture and a look at the plate I have---yep, you're right----plates are the same. The rear rack for your bike should be the same as on my 2005 R1150R.

So, seems the problem is the hardware attaching the plate to the Givi box. Try using shorter bolts??

My Givi has a mounting plate which replaces the BMW rack very neatly.
Does not look so good when top box is off; which is rarely.

Looks better than mine...

The finished product is a little slicker when the rear seat and bags are on

Definitely prefer the looks of the setup on the 1150

My top box is a Kappa, which is interchangeable with Givi AFAIK.
BMW rack was removed so I have 4 empty holes. Long mounting arms then pick up on pannier mounts and a special top box pad is fitted.
Must try a photograph later.

Can the bolts be mounted in reverse (Bolt-head under the plate and nut above)?
