Please post your foot peg lowering kit recommendations.

I've seen the Verholen and Suburban Machinery kits for sale. Are there other companies out there? Who's kit is the best? Please post your personal experiences. I have a 2004 R1150R. Thanks, Troy

The Verholen peg lowering kit was a life saver me. I don't think I would've kept the bike very long without it, the stock pegs just cramped up my legs too much. I've never regretted having them, although I have dragged my pegs in aggressive cornering. Just something to be aware of; once you've done it a few times it won't scare you, and you kind of get a feel for how far you can lean over.

I'm 6'4" and a few years ago I wanted lowered foot pegs real bad...I looked at all my options...even looked at making my own.

I didn't do it back then...mainly because of the cost...and I'm glad now that I didn't do it...I'm as happy as Larry now with the stock set up.

There's been posts here before about people digging a lowered foot peg during a turn and causing a crash...that also put me off doing it.

I do all day rides all the time now without any problems or disscomfort...I guess I'm just used to it now...and if you give it some time maybe you'll get used to your also.

Just my 2 cents worth...

I don't know I'm only 6'2" and I could use the relief. Maybe I've got a long inseam, or maybe I'm just getting old and fat! Either way I think I'm going to try out some lowering options.

It's funny because us short guys have the opposite problem. We look at seat height figures on brochure to see if we are able to flat foot it. I love KTMs but most of their bikes are too tall for me.

I'm 5'8" with only a 31" inseam so the stock setup on the Roadster is perfect for me. Like DJ, I'm not a fan of lowering the pegs since I ride hard and don't like things scraping; especially on a shaftie bike. But I guess if it makes a difference of being able to ride the bike or not, you have no choice; and at 6'2" I can certainly see where you are coming from.

Actually if I was 6'4" like DJ, there is no doubt in my mind that I would trade the Roadster in a flash on the new R1200GS Adventure. I fell in love with it when I first saw the pics but at 35in seat height in it's lowest setting, I can see me dropping that beast. My Kawi KLX250S also has a 35in. seat height but that bike only weights 269 lbs.

I have the Verholen kit. It works great. I needed it because my knees are old, rickety, and past some surgery. For shifting I would not have needed a extended shift lever, but with the Verholen kit there was not enough space between the shift lever and the footpeg to reach the end of the center stand. So I got a extended lever from Suburban.

I too have knee issues (too many years behind the plate in baseball) but would not lower the pegs. I come too close to scraping them occasionally anyway. My solution will be a taller seat, most likely a Sargent.

If you ride a conservative style, lowered pegs are probably OK. I usually am pretty tame but like to cut loose under certain conditions and have heard of some issues with pegs catching and causing a crash.

I guess this is possible, but the pegs are still spring-loaded and should deflect out of the way.

A bit off topic but I got the suburban machinery lowers and I love them. However, I have trouble getting to my centerstand. Any tips?

With my lowered pegs, I just reachdown with my right hand and hold up the footpeg while I place my foot on the centerstand, then lift/push as normal.

I am looking into lowering footpegs on my R1150R. I'am 6'2" and could use some leg room.

Does anybody have any pics for MV Verholen pegs for R1150R ? Do I need extended shifter with Verholen kit ? So far I found two manufactures. http://www.verholen.de and http://www.suburban-machinery.com/R1150R.htm
My understanding is Verholen can be adjusted while suburban-machinery can not. I could not find any pictures on Verholen for R1150R or explanation about shifter. Suburban-machinery does have an option for extended shifter. Also, I found some old threads with folks complaining on using center stand with suburban-machinery kit ?
Is there a good US site with more pics and explanation on verholen pegs ?
