For my purposes, packing a large digital SLR camera and other stuff, I need something with depth and the H&B top cases offer something I could not find in the Pelican cases. While the Pelicans are superb cases, it is hard to find one with enough height/depth to accomodate a DSLR like mine which is about 6x6x6 inches in dimensions.
:?: You should reconsider the Pelican cases. The 1550m like I have is something like 20 inches wide x 15 inches x 8 inches deep. There is a pelican for vitually any size ....

Charlie: I will, definitely. I have poured over the various Pelican web sites and the 1550 is about as close as I've been able to find that gives enough depth for the DSLR like mine with a vertical grip/battery pack that I use. Still, it is more "suitcase" shaped. My thinking is that a H&B Top Case, has much, much more vertical depth which would allow storage of other stuff as well as the camera. My idea would be to get the Top Case and use the foam sets sold by Pelican dealers to customize the botton for the camera. On top of that would go a piece of custom cut, semi rigid foam, allowing for a cloth case with other gear to fit in the lid, above the camera gear. At other times, it is big enough for the helmet. The H&B rack also accomodates their other top cases, allowing me to go bigger or smaller. And, always important, I think it matches the look of my R1150R a bit more. I'm gonna get a Pelican for my F650GS. :D
