HD's waving and Texas Hold'em

Post by AlbertJohnson »

Been riding about 2 weeks now on this great R1150R...and something verrrry strange is happening...HD riders are waving. Strange. They never waved at me on my KLR650.

Anyone have any explanations?!? :?

Took her down to the Indian Res. yesterday to play a little Tx Hold'em, NL...this thing must be bringing me good luck...had pocket 5's and got to limp in...flop comes J65...yes! 3 of us in...1st guy bets 30, 2nd guy calls, i hesitate then bet 100...1st guy quickly goes all in over top of me...uh oh...3rd guy folds...i finally call 1st guy...guess what he had? And final result?

I noticed the same thing about HD riders when I first bought my Roadster. I think it's because:

1) The oil heads sticking out the sides make it easy for people to know it's a BMW.

2) BMW is not "Jap trash" - a comment I've heard a lot of that I for one suspect is rooted in somewhat racist sentiment. Don't get me wrong. Unlike many people of color, I'm actually not prone to suspect racism among whites. Heck, most of my friends and all the women I've dated in the past ten years have been white.

3) Italian bikes (the other foreign bikes still made by whites) are difficult to distinguish from Japanese bikes, so they don't get much of a wave either.

As a Harley rider, I wave to everyone on motorcycles - even other Harley riders

Here in SoCal seems that most riders wave to most riders, many HD riders wear full face helmets & I even see some in textile gear, when talking to fellow riders the HD riders seem no more & maybe less likely to bash other rides, and HD riders make up a big percentage (as in most) of the hard core commuters I see.

Seems to me its BMW riders that tend to less accepting & more judgemental of fellow riders based on brands riden.
