This thing runs like a scalded ape.

Question: Was doing 80...seemed like 50...does the speedometer show correctly?

About right, had to lean a bit further than I wanted to in a turn yesterday, same as you, doing 80, felt like 50. Deceptive eh?

What colour did you get? Pictures?

I too am 'about to become' an owner. Can't wait. Now, the gray ones with blacked out motor, quicker?? ...LOL

How do you find the riding position? I have only ridden cruisers, is it as comfy for long rides, like say a 1000 Mile Iron Butt run??

The position suits me fine. The seat is comfortable BUT I have a problem with my lower back which means I get sore after 100 miles or so and need a break. Can't tell if it's the bike or my back. Still I wouldn't hesitate to take off for a few hundred miles on this thing. It's a joy to ride, in fact I think I ought to take it out for an hour, just to check that it still rides ok....thinking again about that silver/black thing, maybe it just looks faster.

How do you find the riding position? I have only ridden cruisers, is it as comfy for long rides, like say a 1000 Mile Iron Butt run??

The position was good enough on my Rockster to do 1000 miles in 22.5 hrs.

I would have done it quicker but I got tired and took a short nap.

It took a little while to get used to the position coming from the cruiser background. I found it helpfull to do some streatching before riding. I also decided to try to get in a little better shape. Both of which have seemed to help. Once I got used to it, I made up my mind that I would never go back. My back feels much better in this position instead of the manditory cool guy slouch you get on a cruiser.

actually that 80 mph was really about 75 mph. But still a great ride.

My gosh, 1000 miles in 22.5

Here's a photo, not the best, had to take it myself...i was used to my other bike...and upon starting it, it wouldn't START!! i kept hitting the electric start...wait, kill switch isn't the problem, ignition is on, arggghhh, i got a lemon...wait, what's that blinker in the upper right that keeps coming on when i try to start it...engine problem?? Can't be, it's practically a new bike! 8600 miles! Finally it hit me, i'd been hitting the right turn signal to start it...

Nice to be on a BMW again...this baby is smooth and plenty of power. Already getting stares.

That is a nice lookin' bike. My concearn now is that I am only 5'7", and although at the dealership I was able to balance the bike, I didn't and couldn't get my feet flat on the floor. Kind of wondering what that is going to be like in the real world, with irregular road surfaces and all.

Dwayne...You will get used to it...so don't worry too much about it...almost every trailbike rider can not flat foot their bike and their aways on uneven ground..you do need to think before you put your foot down and not put the lower side down.

Also you asked about cruiser style bikes...most cruisers have feet forward possition..the Roadster is more back and much better IMHO.

You can unweight..and put weight on your legs and raise your butt off the seat for things like speed humps and pot holes.

Feet forward causes the bump to jolt right to your arse and back..on a long ride it all adds up.

Just my 2 cents worth..

Much appreciated. Anyone have a picture of the dash on the 1150 R and what all the indicator lights are? I'm startin' to get excited, if only I had the owners manual. As soon as the deal goes through, I'll go to the dealership and get the manual from the bike.

The two far outer lights are green indicator lights..left & right
Down one on the left is a blue high beam light
Down one on the right is a yellow low fuel light
Center is a green neutral light
Lower left is an oil warning light
Lower right is an altinator charge light.
Center lower is ABS warning lights.
