Head Crash

Post by \\Mike_Lea// »

Just reading some of the articles about cylinder heads hitting the deck whilst riding... I've asked this question before, but is it common and an easy thing to do ? Or do you need to really crank the things over to get a scrape?

Anyhoo, think I might well invest in some head protectors.... just in case !

I've done it once by accident trying to get the pegs down. As I was leaning I remembered I was only wearing flip flops and would loose all my toes. The resulting correction dropped the bike onto the left pot but it was so fuss free I thought I'd only hit the peg until I got home and saw the scrape!

Head Crash

I'm gonna get some head protectors I reckon... I know it's not the end of the world if they touch down - maybe even cool in a hero kinda way - but I think it would bug me too much to see a scrape every time I use my bike.

Well....after being out on the track a few times, I'll tell you that you'll touch peg lonnnng before you touch a head! Take your Rock out and in your driveway...lean the bugger all the way over (just don't drop it! hehe)...you'll see that if you evvvvver find yourself leaned over that far...well.....it's gonna be a crash and THAT'S what those protectors are for IMHO.

If you go here..the last pic on the the third row is one of my blacked out cover along with the protectors that I have. They're not much...but....when some jagoff knocked my baby over in the Home depot parking lot..the protector on the left got scaped and the cover didn't. Worth the $$$ for just that in my book.

Hope this helps!

They look pretty cool actually, I take it those are the BM parts ?? Look similar to something I was shown at my local dealership...

Thanks for that !

Yep, those plastic pieces are BMW accessories. Too expensive for what you're getting. I ought to know, I have a set too. This was before I found these http://www.stantonheadguards.com.

These things will replace my cheesy BMW plastic head guards.
