Clutch Bleeder Nipple

Hey all:

I've been trying to get my local BWM dealer to bring in the clutch bleeder nipple that goes into the end of the vent screw after you remove the grub screw. After more than 2 weeks they're telling me they can't get one. No one seems to know what I'm talking about. I also phoned another dealership 200 miles south of me and they're also telling me they've never heard of it.

The shop manual calls for this 7 buck part to do the clutch fluid change at 12k miles.

My question: Has anyone else experienced this problem. If you don't have the little bleeder nipple, is there a way to jury-rig the clutch fluid change? I'm using a Mity-Vac to do all my brake/clutch fluid changes.

I've changed the clutch fluid twice. Once without the bleed fitting and once with. Either way that task is a pain in the ass!!!!!!!!!! To get a fitting go to Bob's BMW on the net. It's one of the best places to get BMW stuff. Nice,informed, and helpful staff.

BMW part # 34212330310 - Bleeder

Order from Chicago BMW. But you might as well go ahead and get some other parts you need...Like brake pads, etc. 20% discount on parts.

I bought a Speedbleeder (size SB1010S), but it didn't screw into the cluthch filler adapter deep enough to seal and it made a mess (thankfully I'd covered the area with aluminum foil so there was no paint damage). I finally got a BMW clutch filler adapter bleeder valve which was essentially a brake bleeder valve with ~1/16" of the tip ground off flat to push the check-valve ball in, so I sent it back and ground off the SB1010S to match. Although I haven't tried it yet, it should work better than the BMW part.

Turns out one of the senior mechanics at Blackfoot in Calgary actually knew the part number of the thing . . . not listed in the shop manual. It should be here next week. $9. CDN.

It's the same part as the brake bleed nipple (I think)
