I'm considering this windscreen for my '96 R1100R. Has anybody tried one? Will it fit a '96 R1100R with the BMW clock and tach? How's the wind protection?

GeoffJ, I have that exact screen, real inexpensive but good quality. I ordered mine in silver but had it repainted to match the BMW silver. And it can fit way better than the one in your picture with no gap at all, reall easy to install. Everybody that has seen it thinks its a factory piece (non BM owners that is), it blends that well!
Most importantly it works (I'm 5'10 with the standard lower seat), directing air perfectly with no buffeting (except with a passenger). But it is noisy compared to stock, though my earplugs offset that.
The attached picture shows a different angle. I have had this screen on the bike for about 2 years. Live in NC and have ridden to FL and OH with it on(well plus an additional 40,000 + miles). I think it works well and I like the looks.

I love the Givi! I have Pat's legendary cut down Givi and I was a little skeptical when I first installed it, since I really liked the BMW flyscreen. I have had it on for over a year now though and haven't looked backed since. It's by far the best screen I've come across for the R... I've had the sport screen, flyscreen, Pat's cafe, and Pat's Givi to give you an idea. The sport screen is probably the worst unless you're under 5'7" or over 6'2"
One of my concerns is whether the Givi windscreen will it fit a '96 R1100R with the BMW clock and tach? These two gauges are independent units that flank the bars on the left and right side.
I realize the R1100R in that thread has the 1150R style gauge cluster, but it does have a Givi A750 on it, I can see the bracket just above the turn signal.
The images are no longer on that site (at least not in the same directory) but it also shows an R1100R w/ the A750 shield. Maybe you can make out from those pics if it has the same instrument cluster as yours, or the newer one.
Either way, I bet it would fit. The shield is pretty flat and doesn't wrap around the sides much. It's meant to be a universal mount. They make the A746 or some such that is specific to the R1150R. The difference is in the mount, not the shield. The 760 and 770(?) are just wider versions.
I have an A750 on my 1150R and the way it mounts there is some wiggle. That's the reason Pat trimmed off the fingernail lip on his before selling it to cmak.
Alannc's pic shows better the "flattness" I'm talking about.

Alan, Great looking "R" I do not know why BMW would offer any other color than Black, it gives true meaning to the old saying "Black is Beautiful" I was wonder if you or anyone else had the Givi part no. for that screen, I am giving it some thought. Thanks Den
I also have teh Givi screen and have used it to ride cross country. I found it to have plenty wind protection for my 5'8" height. I also have rockster bars mounted so I lean frward a little more. Notice also that I have the rear mounting brackets from the BMW sport screen attached (the sport screen came with my bike when I bought it). I found that the top of the Givi screen will vibrate some at speed and with the BMW brackets there it's rock steady.

The folks at A&S BMW confirmed the Givi windscreen will not fit a '96 R1100R with the BMW clock and tach. I'm quickly learning that there aren't many accessories for the R1100R. It seems the bike didn't catch on with consumers and aftermarket suppliers until the R1150 was introduced. Has anyone else noticed this?
