The Georgia BMW owners group put together a small toy collection activity for some needy kids in Towns county this year. We do it each year but this time it seemed to be better prepared and more fun.
A collection box was kept over at Blue Moon Cycles on the other side of town and one was here at BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta.

A small group rode over from Blue Moon, bringing their toys with them and then we joined them to ride up to Towns County in far north Georgia about 115 miles away. As folks arrived they gathered inside the dealers showroom to eat doughnuts and swill coffee, warming up as they enjoyed the meeting. It was a nippy 40ish outside but warming fast. We all got ready and left at about 11.

It was a beautiful sight being about mid-pack and watching the ribbon of beemers weaving in and out on the highway as we rode up the expressway toward Young Harris in Towns County. I was the lone Roadster in a group of just about every kind of BMW available. RTs, LTs, CLs, RSs, F650s, even 2 GoldWings.
We arrived just before 1:00 and delivered the toys from a van and trailer which drove behind us on the highway.

After a few minutes of talking with the sheriff and posing for photos, he called a couple of jail-birds out to unload the toys.
Now I ask you. Does this fellow look like the typical southern sheriff, or what? But actually a really nice guy.

He was very grateful for the gifts and had already identified families with specific needs of children who otherwise would have no Christmas gifts. Broken homes. Orphans. Homeless. Runaways. Druggie Parents. Etc. This is a sad situation all over, even in Towns county Georgia.
We had planned to sing a carol, but somehow that got forgotten.:-)
Then everyone parted ways and rode their own rides home from there.

It was beginning to cloud a little as I approached the house and the temps began their rapid descent toward the 30s before I got home. Once the sun goes away, I have to park the RR below 40 degrees.
Nice ride though, and I felt like I helped a little to ease some kid's misery for Christmas.
