LED Brake lights and garage door openers
I was wondering if anyone has put LED brake lights on their Rock(or Roadster) and or have any opinions. Is it worth the money, the looks, and do you have any pics?
Also I have heard of a garage door opener that you can wire into your turn signal switch, so when you hit the switch it will open the garage door. I am looking for an alternative to hanging my garage door opener from my luggage mounts(bulky and sightly). Its an older Genie, not a rolling code. I couldn't find any of those pocket remotes that I could put on my key chain for my particular garage door opener. Any ideas or experiences?

I have the BMW LED drive/brake light for the back. Is it worth the money? Probably not since that you can get LED brake/drive lights for maybe half of what BMW charges for its branded accessories. But what the hell, the damn thing is made ready to mount and wiring up.
It's more noticeable with the LED light, I tell you that much. I see guys riding in front of me and the LED is very visible during daylight and even more so at night. When they hit the brakes, there is no mistaking those lights for anything else.

I have a set of hyperlights that I've installed inside my taillight lens so you don't really see them until I hit my brakes. I feel that they are well worth the money 'cause those little suckers are very bright and noticeable. Makes me worry a tad less about someone rear-ending me, though I still watch my mirrors. I'll post pictures if I think about it.

No pics, but I had hyperlights on my Roadster. I used the supplied adhesive tape and installed them under the tail light just ahead of the tag light. You wouldn't know they were there unitl you hit the brake and lit them. The natural angle of the surface in front of the tag light made the hyperlights aim directly at drivers behind you. They are very bright.
Additionally, I used the function where they would flash for five seconds and then burn steady until you released the brake. Believe me, drivers could see my brake lights from a long distance. My friends told me they grab attention right away. I feel they were worth the money.

taosports- that is interesting, I have heard of kits but didn't know you could do it with an existing remote.
That is the first time I have heard of hyperlights. I will have to look into that.

I have led tailights since march this year...they sure make a difference. I notice the cages stay way back, especially at night. the brand that i use is from http://www.gizmomill.com it's a canadien company, and it is compatable with the abs system.

Us Brits can get the clear tail light and LED now too. It's more expensive [£85 incl shipping] but there's no hassle of importing and all that stuff. Go to http://www.nippynormans.com to see pics. It looks particularly good [IMHO] when combined with silver vision indicator lamps and the silver luggage "thingy" on the back [mind you, I still haven't found a way of not slipping backwards under heavy acceleration when the silver "thingy" is fitted]

The LED tail light board was easy to install, slips in the hole where the regular bulb comes out. Wires are plug n play. You can set various flash rates, I really like that. May be illegal, but who cares? They flash faster n faster until they stay on solid in a few seconds.
Guys at the beakster bash agreed it was brighter than stock.
Bought it at Santa Cruz BMW at their booth at the LA bike show.
Some pretty cool stuff on that NippyNorman site. Looks like they ship to the US.
The new R1200S has LED tail lights. Pretty cool too.

I replaced my right control assembly with an R1150GS assembly purchased cheap on eBay. I polished "ABS" off of the ABS switch, put "GRG" there in white transfer lettering, and cleared it with matte clear coat.
Then, de-loomed the ABS switch wiring. Shuffled the connector pins so that the GS switch performed all the R functions. Ran the ABS wires to 12v source, which gets switched to the battery connector of my standard garage door remote under the tank. First I shorted the remote's switch terminals so that it is always "On" when powered.
Tada, pull up and hit the big "GRG" button to open/close garage door. And it looks factory.

The trick tickled me so much, I bought an RT left assembly, also cheap on ebay. Polished the windshield icons off of the windshield switch and labelled the top of the rocker "DRV" and the bottom "FOG". Deloomed and shuffled the wiring, routed the deloomed wires to two autoswitches.
My driving and fog lights are now "Press on/press off" with a factory-appearing switch.
