Going Synthetic ! Help me with my choice .

I have gone passed the 20000km mark and deciding to go Synthetic .
It's odvious that i'm taking this baby for the long haul ( LOVE IS DEEP YA KNOW!)
My choices are Mobile 1 or Amsoil !

What would YOU choose ?

I don't know if you can get it up there, but Mobil 1 15/50 Synthetic is an excellent choice, I buy mine at Walmart.

That's what going in my engine at the next oil change...at appx 10000mi.

I use Amsoil front to back in my Beemer. No slam there against Mobil 1, however, since I used that in my race cars for a loooooooooong time, and nver any issues.

I use the Amsoil because I got on their "Preferred Customer" program where for a small annual fee you can buy all their products and have them shipped directly to you. I have now used Amsoil's products - from oil to gear lube, from vinyl/leather cleaners and protectants, from multi-purpose spray lubes to greases, etc. - for quite some time now in all my personal vehicles, and I haven't found anything that wasn't first-rate stuff. Interestingly enough, the BMW dealership where I prefer to do business with (up in Austin, nearly 200 miles away...) also uses and recommends Amsoil highly.

For me it's nice to work up a fairly large order a couple of times a year and stock up my garage with everything I need for my cars, bikes, lawn care equipment, etc., and then I have it right there when I need it.

And I'm an automobile dealer...

Our group in Baton Rouge runs Royal Purple......two reasons

1) I have a long history of use on large HP Gas Turbines

2) One of the distributors is kin and we get it at close to cost......a better reason yet.

Thank you for all your input ,so far ! My dealer is down the street from my house and there selling either one .

I don't know Walmart is selling mobile ! I will check it out there might
be a beneficial cost savings over the dealer !

I think you're right since the subject is Walmart/Satan. Funny, last time I went to our local Walmart for oil (since they have a good selection), I didn't see the Prince of Darkness there.

Ditto on the Amsoil recommendations. I've used in it my cars for years (my Honda's approaching 200k) and will in my R when it stops sucking oil and finally gets broken in. But, I've heard really good things about Royal Purple.

The "preferred customer" option with Amsoil is jumblies.

You've got to be kidding me...

Wal-Mart and the Waltons are one of the classic entrepreneurial success stories of all time, and actually should serve as an example of how enough hard work coupled with a dream and some smarts will make you a ton of money... Ya' know... Sort of the whole idea behind a free nation and capitalism.

Wal-Mart wouldn't be as successful as it is if it didn't give the people what they want. Their parking lots aren't packed full because nobody shops there, and it is for sure a vast majority of those "blue collar" workers referred to shop at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, etc.

Why is it in this country that if somebody turns out to be a resounding business success they are suddenly branded as "evil"???

Give me a break...

Maybe it is no more than simple jealousy... or envy... or both.

If you don't like a store, brand, service, etc., don't shop there or buy it.

On the real subject at hand, I use BMW synthetic to help my dealer maintain their revenue stream.

Dittos to what Dallara said, I do all of our grocery shopping at the Walmart Super center up here. Hard to find a parking space in their lot. The place is filled with happy Walmart employees as well.

If the price is right, i really don't care !!

The dealer wanted $12 cdn for a litre of each !

I might get it a little cheaper else were!

I didn't realise were i purchased it made such a difference !
