i have had a similar sound and took it to the dealer........the noise is coming from the instrument cluster/clock.....It comes on when running up the tach above 4000.....on engine braking it sounds just like marbles rattling around....goes away below about 3500.....i have to bring it back, but they documented it and say they will fix it.....i guess the sport screen acts like a speaker and sends the sounds right at the rider.....just my $.02

Noise from the tach

Post by Guest »

I never thought of noise from the tach. I'll have to take a good listen and see. Thanks..

I had the same problem that you describe and it turned out to be the plate behind the clock. Took a while to find but if you tap that plate you may find it loose.

My bike had the fuel filter vibrating against the tank wall- another possibility for tha marbles sound?

I finally got around to checking the plate on the clock and that was it! It's loose, it rattles at certain RPMs and that was the problem. Thanks for the tip. I never would have thought of the clock.
