Got the letter today for the SOs F650CSA. Free inspection until Aug or Sep '06.

And an insert for the manual that speaks to overexercising the ABS...

Letter came today, non-ABS bike here.

Didn't seem like they wanted to do anything to the bike, just add the section to the manual. Whatever.

I'm holding my breath for the Surging Recall Letter...

I enjoyed the part "What happens when the ABS control function fails?"... "As it is an emergency running function, you should drive to a specialized workshop, preferably an authorized BMW Motorrad retailer, as quickly as possible"

First.. Just who else can fix it.....
Second.. Just how quickly should I be riding while on residual brakes.. is 90MPH too slow?

I got a letter on Friday last for my k1200r. Mine also was an advisory, but sans the offer to inspect for free

Any time that your Beemer is serviced at an authorised dealer and hooked up to their computer the brahes will be tested at no charge.

no kidding.
Once they start making the losing side pay the court cost for both parties you'll see a lot less 'free lawsuits for portion of the winnings' crap going on.

It would not stop it, but the plaintiffs and their teams would have to be reasonably sure of winning, or be prepared to pay for my awesome legal team when they lose.

I got my letter too and I don't have ABS. Guess everyone who bought a Roadster got the letter.

Wonder if this is a recall for all bikes.

Well I finally got my letter from BMW Motorrad Canada. Apart from some restructuring of the final two paragraphs (and the removal of the reference to the 1-800 number), the text of my letter reads exactly like the one Tony posted well over a month ago.

What I love is the offer of a free inspection "valid through April 30, 2006". Let's see, last year I rode until mid November, so I have maybe 4 weeks this fall to take advantage. The earliest I could ride this year was April 10 so that gives me a couple of weeks of riding time to get the bike in. Not exactly the most customer oriented time frame for a free inspection for us northerners.

Will be interesting to see how far out my dealer is booking appointments these days.
