valve clearances

Can anyone help me please?
What are the valve clearance figures for a 2001 R1150R?

I can tell you that the clearances are:

.15mm (Intake)

and

.30mm (Exhaust)


But, that's for an R1150R. For us on this side of the pond that is at least a 2002 model year bike though the date of manufacture could be during 2001. I realize the European model year is different.

Those specs are correct for both R1100 and R1150 bikes.l

In another thread TaoSports said he read from the Clymer manual that:

2004 R1150 twin spark

Valve clearance (cold)
Intake : 0.17-0.23 mm (0.007-0.009 in.)
Exhaust : 0.25-0.31 mm (0.010-0.012 in.)

I need to find out if thats accurate, cause if it is I've got to get to work setting correct values. I'm almost at 12k on my 04, so I need to find out soon.

2004 R1150 twin spark

Valve clearance (cold)
Intake : 0.17-0.23 mm (0.007-0.009 in.)
Exhaust : 0.25-0.31 mm (0.010-0.012 in.)

Maybe Clymer says that's what it should be, but my trusted BMW tech at Engle's BMW in Kansas City set mine at .006" intake and .012" exhaust. I checked them last night in prep for a vacation ride. Clymers numbers on the intake side are on the safe side, as too much gap is better than too little. Too much gap, would merely make your engine "tick" a little louder. Too tight a gap can make problems if left that way. I'd go with .006" and .012"
