Shorter clutch lever?

Then I ment shorter grabbing. I got short/small hands and feel that the lever is to far away. I have bad feeling then I have to use my fingertips. Any solutins for this? On ebay I only find shorter levers for r1200.

I assume you've adjusted the lever as close as possible? (there's 4 settings on the lever-span adjust dial IIRC).

Yes, it is on 1. But I only have 1-3, not 4 settings.

by "Short" Im assuming you mean shorter distance from grip to lever.

so, if youre searching for aftermarket levers, and look for "short" you will get short LENGTH from pivot to end... more popular with the sportbike and offroad crowd. two fingers for the clutch, and two fingers to hold onto the grip.

I dont have particularly long fingers...and i dont have a problem.

I've got pretty big hands and still need to slide them well forward to grasp the clutch lever. I have to use more than my finger muscles to pull the clutch lever back to the bars on setting 2. I'd not like to have a shorter lever as it's not the lightest clutch I have used. I take my wrist watch off as it reduces the wrist ache on a long trip.

There is a possibly easy and inexpensive solution for you, using the stock lever. Take it off and take it apart so you can either drill the number 1 adjustment hole a little deeper -or- file/grind the end of the adjuster pin shorter.

On my long gone 1990 Suzuki VX-800 after the clutch lever end bent sharply on a side stand tip-over I cut the clutch lever about 2 inches (50mm) shorter and rounded off the cut end so my index and middle fingers could easily work the light pull clutch lever. It worked so well I would not hesitate to do it again when the normal lever pull is light or moderate. As mentioned, it is a common dirt rider mod as they can still have a 2 finger hold on the handlebar/handgrip while working the clutch.

I was thinking about this topic and realized that when I pull my clutch lever, the lighter I pull it (and closer to the center stock ) the better the clutch engages and smoother the shifts. When I used to pull it back to the bar like in my previous bikes, I consistently had problems getting really smooth shifts. But when I realized that all I needed to do was barely touch it and everything worked like butter, that was a really cool "aha" moment. Just something to contribute to the folks that are working on clutch issues.

I dont want a shorter/smaller lever. I just want it closer to the handlebar. I have short fingers. Thats the problem.

If the lever is even closer to the handlebar you may have an insufficient movement to fully disengage the clutch. Cyclerob may know how far can you reduce it.
