Best Tail bag for a r1150r / Rockster

Knights of the Boxer-Table,
Based on your experience, training, and bar room pick-ups, do you have a recommended tailbag for an r1150r/rockster. I have the stock luggage rack & would like a bag that is both astectically pleasing and functional.

I'd like to...
1.) have the bag fit and tiedown/lock down on the stock luggage
2.) still have someone be able to sit on the passenger seat
3.) With all my gear in my Stock OE BMW Saddle Bags & this bag back a (small) tent.

I know it's a tall order, but I know many of you share my love for camping...with a girl...and getting there on a (good lookin') bike (none of that GS stuff)

Only had my Rockster less than a fortnight but it came with one of THESE. It was on the bike when I picked it up and rode it home 130 miles or so, seemed fine. Fits well, doesn't move around at all and seems very well made.

Aside from that.
Your first choice requires a special mounting plate, which adds to the cost. Look closely at picture nr 4.
The other two are general purpose for all kinds of motorbikes and not specifically R1150R / Rockster.

I like the fact that it's waterproof without a cover. They have some more nice bags too.
I have the original BMW tank bag which I do like. I use it almost every day and it's a little worn out.

Sorry guys. Just to clarify. I was speaking about a tail bag.
I appreciate the tank bag rec's though. For the Record I have the SW Motech tank bag. It attaches to a low profile receptor attached the gas tank.

That's one enormous bag.

Not that big,around 40 liter size. I just returned from Alaska and used it 7,000 miles, worked great just snap it of to care to the room.

I have older version of this dry bag, and its larger capacity kin. The smaller roll top bag could fit on R1150R rack. Good quality construction, easy to pack, single compartment is fully accessible with top open (seems obvious, but this is handy when moving gear to & from bike, when roll top bag becomes giant tote bag), too many straps flapping, too-small attachment eyelets in molded hardware in original version.

The bigger size is huge: extends fully across system cases when attached to bike, and occupies pillion seat.

I have the BMW soft top case, which meets all your requirements. Part number is 71 60 2 337 144. The case is about $190, but to get the rigid mount/lock you will need the carrier kit, which makes it pricey. But it's perfect for what I need.

As said - that's the OE BMW 'Soft-bag', originally sold for the K1200R-RS (which shares a tail-rack mount template).
I've still got one - they come with a waterproof 'shower-cap' which works well, and the mount system works ok too. I don't use mine much, it's not large enough to hold a helmet, and you can strap more stuff to the tail rack than the bag will hold. BUT - it comes with a good shoulder strap and the entire top face unzips to make un/loading very easy.

The Silver BMW bags (brought out for the R1200/K1200 bikes in around '04-'05) are very good too - they're built to be inherently waterproof (apart from the outer pockets), and they slide onto the tail-rack very easily. It makes them a little less 'secure', but very easy to fit/remove. They carry a little more, and you CAN fit a helmet in them.

These days I tend to stick to my topbox as it's on the bike permanently. (but less than 5 mins to remove).
