Metzeler Tyre Coding- Meaning?

I've just ordered a Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact M . This appears to be the recommended tyre from the Metzeler site.
But an on line tyre supplier has a £3 cheaper one called Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact170/60 ZR17 . Anyone know what difference the 'M' signifies?
My Z6 is looking a bit worse for wear and do not want to take it to the wear markers.

The wet weather handling of motorcycle tyres and especially the braking performance in wet conditions, is becoming an increasingly important feature demanded by the rider. This rider requirement occurs especially if it suddenly rains and a high level of security is needed. Metzeler has decided to develop the new (M) and (O) specifications to provide motorcyclists the latest technology in terms of wet grip by retaining a high level of performance in all other areas. The rear tyre of the specifications (M) and (O) has a bi-compound mixture. The rubber compound in the central section of the tread area, depending on the tyre size, is on average 45 mm wide, with a 70% silica content specifically designed for higher mileage and stability at high speeds. The tyre shoulders comprise of approximately 88 mm on each side of the profile and have a 100% silica compound, which increases dramatically the chemical grip in the wet and reduces sliding under all conditions. The front tyre also consists of a 100% silica compound.

I've recently retyred from work, sorry retired, and have got more time to spend my cash on the BMW. A pair of Wunderlich hand protectors as well as the new err tyre are in the post.
Thanks for the explanation peels. I'd thought all brand name sport touring tyres were bi- compound.

I've just saved £40 on the overall tyring saga price by going mail order and getting a mobile fitter to come to me. Now I just need to save another £60 and I will have paid for the hand protectors. Man logic.
That Metzeler web site has got a lot of info hidden away.
Just hope my front Z6 will be at home with the rear Z8.

mobile tire fitter? we don't have those here. maybe we should!

Guy turned up at 8.40pm with a 2 tonne Mercedes van.Changed the tyre and replaced the valve for £10 and checked the balance statically. None needed. He also does servicing from his van. Claims to have done BMW ABS fluid to maybe next time.
Two more service visits after 9 pm - he is a busy chap!

Z8 Roadtec v old Z6 Roadtec. The centre tread of the new tyre/tire does have TWI. Feels good so far.
