Trip meter stuck

Post by Aitch »

After extended storage, my trip meter has issues. Each time a tenth rolls over, the entire thing rolls. As in 444.9 to 555.0 to 666.1.
Any ideas?

I'd argue that's a warranty claim.

The trip/speedo is supposed to be something that works for the ENTIRE life of the machine, it's NOT really supposed to be a wear item (seeing as it records legally relevant information).

A decent dealership would replace it I'd think.

Warranty issue? I'll check on that. Anyone else experience this problem or offer a suggestion?
Is there a way to get some lube to the trip meter?

Thinking of injection some WD40 with a syringe through the gasket around the trip meter knob. I've penetrated the gasket with a long needle and can get approx. 1.5" into the mechanism.
Any thoughts?
