I just got the Trifecta of failures!!!!! Completion Update

So, a couple months back like many others I got the fuel pump recall letter and started thinking about when I could make my schedule work with the dealers to get this done, but I wasn't in a huge hurry.

About a month ago I took the bike for a Saturday romp and noticed my brake failure light stayed on the whole time. I came here to the forum for some research and tried some of the low voltage gremlin trouble shooting and that didn't work. So I topped off the brake fluid to see if that might help. I then took the bike for about a five mile ride to see if that helped. As soon as I fired the bike up my fuel gauge went from 3/4 full to empty. Next Tuesday I happened to be in Indy for work and dropped by the dealer to schedule the various services, and had to wait three weeks. No biggie, I have other toys

So I dropped the bike off and waited with fear on what the service writer Shannon had to say.

Yesterday I got the call, I have THE Trifecta of failures all at once: bad fuel strip, cracked fuel pump flange, ANNNND a bad ABS module. WooHoo where's the lottery office, I need a ticket

The good news: flange covered by recall, fuel strip number six covered by warranty since the last one went out 22 months ago, and the dealer will work with ModuleMasters to have the ABS motor rebuilt I don't think I've ever been so happy to have a service writer tell me about a $650.00 repair.

My research here and else where found that a new module R&R was in the $2k range (just about what the dealer told me) or $200ish for a rebuild and $400.00 for the labor, or do it myself. Since I simply don't have the time to do it, summer is my super busy work season, I went with them doing the work. I was prepared for them to tell me that they wouldn't work with a non BMW provider but, they offered me the option, I didn't have to ask. Shannon said they had worked with ModuleMasters in the past and had great experiences.

So now I wait, I'll keep you folks informed about the rebuilt module as things unfold.

Here's the update: I picked up the bike yesterday after having all three issues addressed by Falcone Powersports in Indy.

The fuel strip was covered under warranty. It was covered under the new SIB 16 002 14 (017) as Harry alerted us to in his thread. Yes it's good for 12 years from in service date of the bike.

The cracked fuel pump flange was covered under the recall SIB 001 14 (005) that everyone seems to be getting.

The ABS module was rebuilt by Module Masters for $350.00 including frieght (they may have marked that up a touch according to what others on here have reported???) and the labor to do the swap was only 2.5 hours@$97.00/hr so $242.00. They discounted the labor hours due to the overlapping process for the strip/pump labor. So right at $600.00 for a rebuilt/installed ABS module and brake fluid flush. That beats the heck out of the $2,300.00ish new one installed

Big thanks to the folks at Falcone. They have always treated me well in the past even knowing that I perform the majority of my routine maintenance on my own, and I bought my bike at another dealer (they weren't in business at the time). Working with Module Masters to help save me money, and get a better warranty, was just icing on the cake.

Good stuff, 600$ is for sure a-lot less than 2300$.

I recommend you spending the difference on gas for the bike and take a long ride just to make sure everything is in fine working order

Sounds like a good dealer and good service department. That sort of dealer usually motivates me to spend more $$ directly in their shop/store rather than on the Interwebz. Figure they deserve some reward for being customer focused..
