Hello all-
I am wanting to make my R a little more fun to listen to (exhaust note is a big thing for me, louder=better, go ahead and rant). TwoBros lists a setup for an 1150RT, but it doesn't say anything about R1150R compatibility. Anyone buy one? I have a 2002 R. Looking for feedback!
Sidebar: last bike was a TL1000S, that thing sounded like it was chained lightning and I loved that. The R has left me a bit non-plussed as far as audio goes, but I love the rest of the package. I'm 46, and needed something more age-appropriate (and more comfortable).

I'm told that the R1150R doesn't make much noise even with the standard muffler removed.
So you could try removing the exhaust first before buying something else.

I bought my 2004 R1150R Rockster in January, 2006. The previous owner had installed the Two Brothers setup. It is fairly loud and I bought a stock muffler and cat from eBay thinking to replace it. But I never did.
After 7 years and 38,000 miles, the muffler has held up. The chrome is a little pitted but it is only noticeable close up. Also, there is very little clearance with the rear tire.
I swear it sounds different depending on temperature. When under 60 F it sounds more muted which I prefer. Above 70 F it is louder and you hear popping sounds. That could be due to changes in the fuel mixture. Also, it sounds best when you keep the rpms above 3500 and it resonates.

Just curious...when the temps are cooler, do you wear anything different? High collar jacket, scarf , hoodie, different helmet...etc Just wondering if that is changing the sound ?

Re: Two Brothers y-pipe and muffler
Thanks people! I forgot to mention, I already removed the stock muffler from the system. Amazing how little that muffler does! It sounds better, but not perfect.
So timl, it sounds like the two brothers Y-pipe fit fine on your Rockster. I wonder why they would only list it for the RT on their site...
I made an inquiry but no reply. I'll ask again.

Re: Two Brothers y-pipe and muffler
I have the Two Brothers "Y" pipe and can on my 2002 R1150R. After a few thousand miles it gets louder and needs to be repacked. Getting the end cap back on can be a pain so I have decided to repack it every 10,000 - 12,000 miles.

Interesting. I've never repacked mine and its been on my 2004 Rockster for nearly 40,000 miles. How do you do this and what material do you use? Isn't the end cap riveted on?
