more brake problems !

Hi there guys, hope this finds you well,........ own a 2002 1150r with abs and servo brakes, got just on 30'000 miles on the clock, on starting from cold and setting off the abs self checks and warning lights all go out, servo whines and both front and rear brakes function as normal, after around 2 miles of riding both lights come on with triangle lit permanently and brake failure flashing fast, shortly after i lose the servo to the rear then shortly after that i lose the servo to the front.
checked fluids in front and rear brake reservoirs and replaced rear brake pads (which were low),not taken tank off to check abs unit levels yet tho, bike is kept on optimate charger and battery seems good, (not sure this would make any difference anyway !), nearest dealer is fair distance and rumour has it his bills make grown men cry, being grown and not mad for the crying stuff i thought i might run it past you guys to see if anyone has any ideas i could try ?......... option 'b' is to sell the kids, wife and dog and go to dealer for diagnostics, .........not mad for that as i love that dog !

I've had some similar problems so have looked into it a bit. If you end up having to replace the ABS module, there's a place called Module Master in I believe, Boise ID, that can overhaul the unit. I think you'd have to call them as their main business is automotive.

thanks airman, hoping its not abs as bits are soooo expensive, does anybody know if abd and servo are all in same unit ?

There is probably no problem more discussed than 2002 BMW ABS brake problems. The problem you list I too have had and have, at least part of it. No rear brake servo function and flashing lights. My fix to the flashing light is to cover it over but not recommended. After researching the many helpful tips concerning this problem for me the most sensible solution is to do away with ABS and go with proven manual brakes. Repairing, replacing the ABS servo can cost two thirds of the value of the bike (or more) which makes no sense to me. Do a "search" re:brakes here and I think you will be presented with every available option. Good luck.
