Big feet, Vario Footrest System from Wunderlich

Post by LillMange »

Hello all

I have an issue with the distance between the left riders footrest and the gear lever, I have very large feet and naturally big boots (gear shifting is a bit too uncomfortable). Has any of you guys tried this footrest system (Vario Footrest System from Wunderlich) or something similar, if so does it work fine?

I have thought of purchasing a gear lever that is longer aswell, but I have not gotten to any conclusion on wether it's better to exchange the footrest or the gear lever.

Any thought on this?

Regards

I believe that my problem mostly lies in the fact that I ride my bike my motocross boots, they are a bit insensitive, large and actually a bit unsuitable for use on my R1100R.

Well, dispite this I will continue to use these boots because I guess it's just a question of getting used to using the R1100R bike.

I have size 13 (USA) boots and was getting trapped between the controls and the cylinder heads with my favorite boots. I installed the the suburban machinery foot peg lowering kit and extended shifter. Much better now.

You can find the exact same vario footpages that Wunderlich sells on E-Bay.de for a lot less. I wear size 14 (US) boots and after installing the kit in the lowest position and doing some adjustments to the shift lever and the brake actuation rod, all is well. You do need a longer stop screw for the brake linkage.

Thanks for the good suggestions guys! :D

Since writing the above I have purchased other boots and that helped ALOT, the new Alpinestars touring boots are soft and really comfy (ofcourse not as protective as the motocross boots, but safety wise these are better because I can operate the bike in a safer and better way) :)

this is the boot I puchased: http://www.alpinestars.com/shop/categor ... b-goretex/

And I have also noticed that when taking curves that are narrow I lay the bike down so much that boots are scraping the ground, hence I no longer want to lower the foot pegs since it could possibly cause an accident. [-o<

Have a nice day guys! 8)
