throw over bags rubbing on exhaust
i tried high temp tape on both the kuryakin bag and on the exhaust pipe, but the heat transfers to the bag and it gets too hot. what should i do? thought about putting some steel wool between bag and pipe...........any ideas?

Remove the muffler.

I removed the muffler on mine when I wanted full sized system cases. It isn't as loud as you may think. The CAT works well as a muffler. Kind of a nice sound in fact.

Agree! If you go to a motor spares shop, you should be able to buy a stubby pipe (chrome, black , whatever)
to fit to the CAT which'll make the job look nice 'n tidy.

I had some adhesive heat-reflecting mats on my left system case (consisiting of a thin layer of some rockwool material and aluminium foil). That worked quite well but it might not stick well on soft-bags. The only alternative would be to construct some kind of distance holder to be attached to the exhaust. Another option would be to use the low exhaust of the R1150RT ...

solution: throw over bags rubbing on exhaust
here's what i did. got 2 bolts(3") and screwed one into the threaded bracket on frame for the factory system cases. drilled a hole in side of rear fender vinyl and installed the other 3" bolt. ran a bracket between and drilled holes in bracket to secure it to bolts. the bag now rests comfortably on the cross-bracket and doesn't show at all because the bags cover everything. i have about 4" clearance between bag and exhaust............plenty to stay cool.
