system case mounting question

Once again thank you for taking all questions seriously and answering throughly.

The piece I am talking about should visible here:

The side shown has a V-shaped cut out (I guess for cable to pass through) however the side NOT shown is basically flat. To clarify, my plan is to mount 2 of these much in the same way as in MIXR's photo, along the inner and outer edge of the foot, with the flat edges of the flairleads against the foot. My concern is that once mounted, the flairleads will project a total of 5/8 inches off the surface of the case. I would not want the foot to bounce out of the slot while riding....

Perfect choice.

I saw them and was worried that both sides had the shaped edge. You need the flat side to secure the foot and stop it from slipping out. Being marine grade material, they will be strong and UV resistant. Size looks good as well. You can ignore all my 'measure it' references as you will be fitting two blocks.

One small suggestion though. Do what I should have done, but didn't do.

Find a thin piece of plastic or alloy about the size of the spacing for the two saddles. Position it under the two saddles like a joiner-plate with the 4 mounting holes so that you have the foot rubbing on the joiner-plate rather than the case. It will look like a pretty neat job that way. Mine was solid and functional, but not pretty. Do a cardboard mock-up after you have spaced the blocks and drilled the holes so the fit of the plate (on the outside) will be perfect. Allow for the thickness of the plate in your choice of mounting screws.

Good to have your support. You read my mind regarding adding a square of material to protect the case from the plastic foot-piece. May provide some friction to help secure the foot as well. If I can figure out how to post pics of the finished product (always seems to be a challenge - Mac-compatible?) I will.
