2012 BMW R1200R Classic

Post by rickmbmw »

I am taking delivery of the R1200R Classic today. My plan is to also keep my R1150R but I suspect there's such a huge difference between both models that I will gravitate more to the R1200. I hope that my enthusiasm and appreciation for both will remain equal!

Congratulations Rick! My prediction is that the 1150 will begin to gather dust.

Hello Bruce,

I suspect you're right. I thought I would ride my R1150R initially for an upcoming trip to Asheville, NC and the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as to the MOA National in July. I will have a real dilemma if I gravitate to the R1200R exclusively because I know I would never be able to sell the R1150R for what it is worth to me.

I feel your pain :)

I recently parted with a bike that I would really rather have kept, yet I hadn't ridden it in several years. I had to come to grips with the fact that though I couldn't sell it for what it was "worth" to me, selling it was in fact the right thing to do. I have made a new owner happy and cleared a little space in the garage -- enough to squeeze in that new R1200R :)

I wonder what a BMW dealer would give me for an immaculate 2002 R1150R (non-ABS) with 40,000 miles. I suspect it would be less than $4,000.
