New here
Hi,
New to BMW so the R1200R is my first. Have had the bike a few weeks now and some observations:
1. Fantastic engine and road holding. Really inspires confidence, especially cornering.
2. Looks great
3. Riding position perfect for me. I am 6 ft. with long arms and legs.
4. Mirrors blurring at speed. Not bothered by that as I am concentrating on the road ahead when going fast. Not a problem at normal speed.
5. Managed to hit neutral when down shifting. Probably my own fault as I was coming from a Honda. Good gear boxes on the Honda but you can be firm on the lever. The BM seems to like a little more finesse
Apart from the BMW indicator system I cannot fault the bike. I have had quite a few bikes over the years and this is the one I should have bought. Suits my needs and riding style. I love the way you can pootle along enjoying the views but open it up when the mood suits.

Welcome!
You have one of the best bikes on the planet. You'll get used to the indicators soon enough and I gotta say, I like 'em. As far as shifting goes, these transmissions like smooth & firm. Little snicks like you can get away with on a Japanese motorcycle, won't always get you the gear on a BMW.

Re: New here
Hi, strange how people are different, I actually love the indicators coming from a Ducati?
Re: New here
Hi.
Gorgeous bike. Love the color.
But how come it looks like you have the standard (sport) seat? I thought the newer models all came with the comfort seat.

Re: New here
You get about 3 or 4 options on the seat.
I got the sport seat. It's horrific. Mines in for a resculpt, gel insert and a recover next week.

Re: New here
I have found the sport seat fine up to now but havent done any big miles yet so I will reserve judgement.
The indicators auto cancel which is great. The little problem I have is the cancel switch which tends to get used when you have turned and are starting to accelerate so the right hand has two jobs. Its no big deal, just different.

You will get accustomed to the cancel switch, it soon becomes intuitive and you can accelerate and operate at the same time!
I find the horn button difficult to find when needed 'urgently'. It is a mirror of indicator cancel switch but just does not fall easily to my thumb. Anyone know of adaptor for this?
