Wind Screen...Help

After the demise of my Beautiful Blue Roadster, I replaced it with a Classic Black Roadster (CBR) and changed to a 20" Cee Baily. That was a mistake. I should have stuck with the 22".

You can measure the size you need following the directions on thir website. Before doing so, you should install the bracket and Don C mount. Tilting the shield the way it does makes for a longer shield needed.

In reviewing Cee Baileys wind screen the tilting of the screen seems to be a popular adjustment. Is a must or someing the seems to work better?

If you tilt must you go up a size in screen?

well its actually BMW are more to blame for how the screen bracket it, but in reality there is really no one to blame
every person is different height, width, so what works for one may not work for another, there is plenty of people who do not need the block to tilt the screen and they are happy.
You can take 2 people of the same build and they will have different requirement in terms of the screen which could be due to how they seat on the bike, their posture maybe different, there are too many variables involved.

at the end of the day its a trial and error to see what works best for you.

with that being said...and my intended use is for solid rain days or winter riding........'ll be happy as a clam, compared to my no screen or sporty screen.

I'm 5'11", 30" inseam and have the 22" Cee Bailey with Don's block. It works excellent for me. I just got back from a seven day trip in which I rode 3K miles with the windshield on. (Georgia/NC/Tenn- mountains and Alabama too.) It worked perfectly for me.

That's actually true of almost every windscreen for the R12R - Cee Bailey's isn't the exception. I think it has a lot to do with development and production costs. AFIAK C-B doesn't own a windtunnel, and some part of the design has been admitted by them to be for looks, not function (the reverse curl at the top of the screen.) That's called marketing.

New to the forum and new to the R1200R. Just purchased a 2011 (to replace a K1200GT--wanted something a little smaller, but still tour capable). So, I, too am looking for a 'touring' screen. Can someone tell me what the Don C block referred to in the posts is?
Any word on Wunderlich's development of screens for the 2011+ bikes?

It costs $50 more than the 2010 version.

What are the pros and cons for this screen, is it worth the cost?

The Don C block, and similar designs are for 2007 -2010 models only. These are installed at the lower mounting point of the touring screen bracket to move the bottom forwards and give the screen more of a tilt. The unmodified touring screen bracket for these years carries the screen too close to upright, which is needed to clear the awkward design of the instrument cluster. The added tilt brings the top of the screen closer to the rider and reduces turbulence. The main compromise here is that it looks funny mounted this way, the lower edge of the screen ends up well forward of the headlight.
The 2011 models have a different mounting arrangement and a better instrument panel design. They do seem to have the same hole pattern for the screen itself. It's not clear yet that tilting the screen further on these newer bike will provide the same improvement. If it turns out that more tilt is needed on the newer bikes, a different method will be needed to provide it. From looking at the drawings, it appears that tilting the screen of a 2011 and newer model will be easier, you might be able to do it with just a small square of sheet metal and a drill.

Ordered today a 2011 Wunderlich Ergo Vario screen . Will try to update about installation and effectiveness. I'm amazed at how little buffeting I experience even with the small 'sport screen' that same OEM with the bike.

Following the link that you posted, we can see the the Wunderlich uses their own unique brackets that they include.

Thanks, I see that now. Looking forward to CEW's feedback on this screen, the curved design seems better than the BMW touring screen.

Chumley..I have the Don C Block, but have yet to install. But I am pleased to say the Windscreen has worked out well...for mitigating bad Florida weather. Once again I wish to thank you'all here on the R1150R forum for your help.
