It's a pity car drivers don't respect motorcyclists or at the very least obey the traffic rules.

Yes it hurt and i will be on crutches for a couple of months. Then i will be searching for another RR.

Whoa! Ouch. Glad you're up & typing.

Damage to right side only, or both sides? Did the motor run long while that right jug gushed oil?

FWIW - I'll be starting a Crash Rebuild thread over in the Rockster section soon, in order to document some parts/repairs costs for reference.

To answer a few questions and thank people for their well wishes, much appreciated.

1. Crash was in OZ (Australia) not India. R1150R's are available in Oz not in India to my knowledge, having said that BMW have started selling motorcycles in India now along with Hardly D's and Ducatis.

2. Mainly right side was damaged as this was where the car T-boned me. But would hate to guess how badly askew is the frame and internals. Just been informed from the other party's Insurance Assessor that the bike has been deemed a write off. (No doubt the arguments over payout will commence shortly)

3. How did it happen?

Right side damage in left hand drive countries usually indicate i would be in the wrong, but when a car pulls out of a parking lot (ie not an intersection) across one lane onto my side of the road and straight into my leg, i reckon it's their fault. The police agree and are going to charge her with some serious driving offences; though that doesn't alleviate the pain.

All i can say is to expect the unexpected and thank god for Fox Leather, they do make damn fine jackets and i would have been in far worse state judging by the slide down the road if I wasn't wearing their 1.6mm fat cow jacket.

It hurt just viewing that photo of the bike. Nasty stuff. Glad you are reasonably 'okay' afterwards.

Do you suppose you could remove the left valve cover (and get away with it) and send it over here. I know someone who needs one.
