Exhaust

Post by jkhomes »

For a while I have been coveting a new exhaust system but couldn't justify the expense. Unfortunately, a riding buddy bumped me from behind and went sprawling. He is a little busted up but me and my R1200R came out of the 10 foot slide remarkably unscathed. He must have hit my exhaust pipe because that is the only real damage. Little bit crumpled from the impact and some scratches from sliding. The cover on the side of the engine worked perfectly. The back tire has some rub marks on the side. The only other scratches are the bar end and mirror.

I am leaning toward the Akropovic. The Staintune is too shiny for me, and the post of the "Akropovic Tune" post on this board doesn't hurt either. Are there any other brands you all think I should consider? Ease if installation is also an issue, although it looks like my buddies insurance is going to take care of everything. They check emmisions where I live, so it needs to be legal and meet US standards.

Thanks and let me know what you think,

The Remus hexacone is the one I would buy, as soon as I get 700.00 bucks to spare.
As long as is only the slip-on you are replacing (not the full exhaust system) it's an easy install.

I think you should get the MIVV so you sound like this guy:

and tell us all what they're like because I've never seen one in person :)

I'm using a Leo Vince. Removable baffle means I can either be civilized or hooligan as the mood suits me.

I am still leaning toward the Akro, although the Remus probably performs about the same. It seems like the Akropovic might weigh a little less. Now I need to look at cost. Can anyone recommend a place to purchase the Akro online?
