Thinking about getting a pair for 2000 R1100R. Anyone have any experiance, or other suggestions.

Hate to post a negative reply, but sorry. Though it is something I've thought about. If the money/time budget allows I'll try to post the results here. Check WebBikeWorld.com for their suggestions. They've done a lot of reviews/experiements with BMWs and though, no R11R's, maybe there's a close anlaog that will help you out.

There are plenty of aux lights available out there. Some more expensive, some less ... Any aux lights is better than none. The question is where to put them. Fixing them to the fork (as shown by motolights) looks ugly in my opinion.

One option I had once seen (only if lights are small) was to fix them under the cylinders and either attach them to the plastic head protectors or use one of the holes needed to fix the head protectors. The other option on the R-Model is to bend some metal strip (l-shaped) am attach same to the fixing of the oil coolers - hence you have the aux lights sitting on top of the coolers.

With regards to switching them on/off suggest you look at the famous autoswitch (http://www.autoswitch.com/index.php).

I have looked at the Moto-Lights, and I am not keen on the mounting position either. Thought about PIAA's on Lumalink's,
but they get pricier than the Moto-Lights. I also looked at the MV Motorrad's that attach to the existing tank mounts, and I like these, but don't know much about them.

Well my question would be what you want to know exactly? The light output? The mounting position? The connection/wiring?

I suggest you get yourself a pair (whichever you want) and find yourself a mounting position you like. Then build yourself a mount with material available from your local toolshop.

Pretty easy I think.

Durability or materials mostly, bulbs can be swapped to acheive different lighting affects. I am looking for driving lights more so than fog lights, so I would prefer to mount them higher on the bike's forks or just below the headlight. Ideally I would like to use a set of Hella FF50's, but I have to research the turn radius on my bike, looks like the oil coolers might be in the way where I would prefer to mount them.

Fabricating my own mount would be a bit difficult for me as I know noone here that can do it. Just moved back to Florida.

I've have Moto Lights on my current R1100R and had them on a previous R1100R. I'm old and have bad night vision, so I need a lot of light on the road. But, I don't want to blind oncoming drivers. I like the caliper mounting position. I have the right side light directed a little higher than the left side. This lets me see a little further ahead, but doesn't blind the oncoming driver.
