Aeroflow on 12R?

Post by ContraMoto »

Has anybody attempted to adapt a 1150R Aeroflow screen to the 1200R? They don't make one for the 12R. I had one on my 12GS and it was amazing. Could ride with faceshield open at 90mph...no buffeting at all.

I e-mailed Aeroflow with a request for them to manufacture a windscreen for the R1200R. That was about six months ago and I never heard from them. I know they make great windshields, unfortunately not for our bikes.

I gave up and purchased a Cee Baileys windshield, which I have yet to install because we have had such lousy weather the past month. When it is not raining/snowing, it is too cold to ride (temperatures in the twenties with winds of 10-15 mph, bringing on the dreaded windchill factor).

On top of that, I have battled a cold for the past week and a half, which I acquired courtesy of all the folks with colds on a recent US Airways flight to Denver. It's amazing how many people there are whose mothers never trained them to cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing.

Coping with a cold makes for difficult riding. It is no fun to ride the bike when you have a runny nose and can't wipe it with a tissue/handkerchief through a full face helmet. You would think that someone could invent a glove with some type of absorbent material on the fingers.

Solution: Sticking your ear plugs up your nose works fantastic. Downside is it makes your ears hurt.

Thanks. That is one I haven't tried. I suppose it doesn't matter what the decibel noise reduction rating is, if you are deploying the plugs for the nose.

I have the Max Lights. I'll give a test ride review after I have snorted them.

When you mount that Cee Baily's, just make sure you jack up the fron mount as far as it can go. Don C on this forum was selling a nicely done delrin block that would be a good thing to use. I made a block using aluminum tubing, i.e. the Ferguson Block, which also works. Instructions elsewhere on this forum. I used that with a 22" Cee Baily's and it worked great all the way up to 100. My new R12R has a 20", it's not as effective but is acceptable.

Have a Merry Christmas,
