Source for Cat Code Plugs?

Post by dbuffington »

Hi Folks!

I've noticed that my 2000 R1100R, which I bought used, has the pink cat code plug.

First, is the stock plug for the 2000 a yellow plug?

If so...

Second, where can I get a yellow plug?

Thanks!

Hi Dave.

How is the bike running on the pink CCP?

When I got my R850R the CCP had been removed.... <shrug> and replacing it made the bike much, much nicer to ride.

In case you didn't know, the CatCodePlug is just a plastic box, with two or three "legs" connected inside the box.

So long as you know what pattern you want, you can make your own, using spade connectors and wire.

AFAIK, the Golden Yellow CCP was for the R1100RS, and connected legs 30-87, while the Pink one connects 30-87-87A and was typically used on the R1100GS, R850R and R1100R.

First, I should mention my R1100R has an aftermarket, non-cat exhaust and a Techlusion controller.

It runs well ... most of the time. There are occasional driveablility issues, e.g., erratic throttle response, backfiring, and worst of all, a sudden near-stall when launching from a warm start.

Putting in fresh Autolite plugs makes a huge difference, but doesn't solve the problems completely.

Ah, and now that I know which terminals it connected, I can do just that :) Thanks!

I've no idea what impact the Techlusion controller has, I don't even know what it is.

But, yeah, making up a set of, effectively, little jumper leads will allow you to try various possible combinations.

I haven't found an exhaustive list of all possible CCPs, some comments at:-

If you google, you'll also find some info in the adventure riders fora.

I have tried both the rosé and the yellow one on my R1100R. I personally stick to the rosé plug as it provides a slightly richer mix and thus the bike runs slightly smoother. With the yellow plug there is slightly more vibrations. I use the yellow plug only before I go to the MOT every 2 years (cause part of that is a compulsory check of the exhaust gases).
