I was working on installing a throttle lock this weekend (I'll post a separate thread about that) when I noticed that my brake light was stuck on. After a bit of debugging with my volt meter, I discovered that the micro switch activated by the handbrake was not disengaging, so I removed the switch and attempted to look up a replacement part. I found it eventually, but the OEM part was $40 ! Anyone know of an after-market micro switch which has the same mounting holes and arm control?
I sprayed some lubricant on the switch and it eventually started working again, but who know how long it will last.
cheers,
Scott

Re: Brake Light Micro Switch Problem
The same thing happened to me. 2000 r11r w/ 35,000mi.. I did pretty much as you did, a little brake cleaner, wd40, and I tweeked the switch blade a bit. It's been a year and a half since the fix, no problems. I never checked on a new one. Ron
