First, I am very disappointed in the Bridgestone Battleax tire, less than 4K on them (R1100RT) and they are about gone. Have tried Metzlers Z6, Continental Road Attacks. Contis seem to give me the best mileage, about 9K before I had to replace them. WHat about Michelin or Dunlops? Second, the knee pads on my bike are coming off. I have tried various adhesives and can't seem to get one to work. THinking I should take the knee pad off completely clean all of the old glue off and try to replace with new glue. Any suggestions as to what type of glue works?

Re: Tires and Knee Pads
Hi there,
regarding the tire your best bet would be Michelin Pilot Road 2. It lasts about 8-10000 km on my R1100R and sticks to the road like chewing gum ...
Best glue for your kneepads? No idea but maybe go for some 2-compound glue made for plastic? It certainly is a good idea to clean the whole area before. Another good option would be silicone (used for example in bathrooms). That stuff sticks like hell and is widely temperature resistant (and stays flexible). You get that stuff in all colors but I would suggest to take the transparent one.
Best regards
Oliver

Re: Tires and Knee Pads
yup BT021 on the front lasted in no time.but the only easily available 18 inch rear tire here is the B'stone and pirelli diablo strada.i've got the fantastic Pilot rd 2 on the front and the 021 on the rear and they work great
Re: Tires and Knee Pads
In our part of the world mixing tires from different manufacturers is legally not permitted and hence an absolute no-go. The implications can be multifold and I believe it is not a good idea to mix tires ...

for the knee pads use 3M VHB double sided tape. its expensive but is made for sticking things to vehicles. if you can't find it at a auto body supply place or pep boys, try mcmaster.com
