I have an issue with my heated grips which members of this forum have kindly identified as a possible broken wire at the steering head (common problem). Which cable tie is the culprit A, B, C or D? Does it look like the cable has already been replaced under recall?
Should I cut the sheath fix the wire then use electrical tape to cover it up with a loose cable tie or not cable tie.
I would recommend cutting all 4 ties as each one is a potential breaking point. I cut the same on my 04 to cure a broken horn wire. Once you have the ties cut you can take an amp meter and put it in series with the fuse that powers the heated grips. Turn ignition and grips on and look for a current draw on the meter and at the same time flex the harness at each point where it was zip tied and look for a change in the current draw on your meter. Once you find which tie point makes the current change then you have localized the wire break and can then use a small blade to slit the sheath around the harness and look for the culprit. Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
