Anybody else tired of winter?
Even spending my first 40 in central MN and loving snowmobiling, I am now tiring of winter!!
Enuf, already!
(Now living in MO - living in SE MO, currently working in KC - not enuf snow to snowmobile,
so LETS HAVE SOME SUMMER!)
My bike needs some exercise!!
It's so lonesome sitting in that dark garage with the only light the indicator on the battery tender.
If anybody knows a warm-weather-and-sunshine dance, get it on!!

+++++1!
Pretty, but cold, weather during the weekend. And never-fail rain on the weekends. Or light snow on Friday's... Argh...

The weather gods do not approve of my dancing (humans do not either). I've tried in the past, and it makes things worse.
"Tired of" does not accurately describe my feelings towards winter. I feel more like...
The way things look like now, I won't even buy a battery for several more weeks.

I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

Tired of winter....? That's understatement. If you live and work near KC, you are not far from me. I am in Topeka. We had snow on Christmas and some of it is still here.
Could it be worse...Do ducks go barefoot...Is a fat pig heavy...Does a wild bear sh...in the woods. Yes Martha, winter really will not last forever and spring will soon blossom into great bike riding weather, but in the meantime, winter just plain sucks.

Amen! and Amen!
Just after I got my bike in summer of 08 I journeyed to Topeka area where a friend of mine was
working on a wind farm (we're both construction road hoes) and had a great time - course any
time on a bike is great, just some better than others!
I'm still on the job N of KC airport a few miles hoping to hang on till around June or so - job is
nearing completion but a lot of test n tune to get the whole mess to work together and make
elektrixity.
If we get to oh my gosh real riding weather, maybe I'll head your way some weekend if I can
get a whole weekend off (!)

My GOSH! That looks more like snowmobiling weather!riceburner wrote:has to be said - my bike could do with a clean....

If you haven't blasted across a frozen lake, or down a snow packed road, at 100 mph
on a snowmobile - - well, let's just say it's a blast! But to really get out "in the country"
and have fun on a sled you need at least a couple feet of good snow. (so it's soft when
you fall off! Don't ask.
Kind of ironic - I shiver on my bike when it gets down under 50. But we used to think
nothing of climbing on a sled at midnite at minus 20 or colder and were just as sure as
we could be we were having the best time it was possible to have!
And I'm talking "way back when" here, when sleds were primitive compared to today's versions -
I had a little 340 twin factory racer with a 7200 rpm clutch that I could slow down to walking speed
but still holding 7500 rpm - and stand it up on it's tail for a good long ways.
After a "vehicle" that'll climb snow covered hills darn near straight up, haul butt well over 100 mph
on hard pack, rocket thru and over drifts as deep as power poles, corner like a slot car,
accelerate like most of even today's crotch rockets and roads? heck, just point & shoot
(staying between the trees & away from barbed wire fences!) well, hate to say it, but bikes
just seem a little "limited". But now that I've celebrated the anniversary of my 59th more times
than I'll admit to any sweetie with a nice smile, I'll be very happy with my Beemer, thank you
very much!

I haven't ridden since last year. It's supposed to get to 50 today and I have to work. Guess I'm riding to work!

Come on guys! I rode yesterday. Granted, our winters are kinda lame here in the Tarheel state, but it was 32 degrees when I pulled the bike out. Perfect riding weather. And the squids stay home so you have the road to yourself!

Yep I get tired of winter but as a member of Polar Bear Vlogger club I refuse to let it beat me. Some of my best rides have been in winter when the temperature is hovering around freezing.
Do a search on Youtube for the Polar Bear Vloggers Challenge.
I made a video of this ride two weeks ago.

Re: Anybody else tired of winter?
Since retiring and moving from a lifetime in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey to the wonderful state of Georgia, my life has improved a lot! It has finally warmed up here after over 2 weeks of way below normal temps. We even got our 5 year residence record of 3" (7.5cm) of snow!
Went on a 72 mile (115.8km) ride today. Left at 5:11pm when it was 59F (15C) to the Northern Tool store, a very well stocked toy store for men. It was still sunny when I went in. Two 12" metal cutting blades for the chop saw and a long, wandering look around ended up making me late for supper, which I had promised to cook. Riding home after dark was a sweet ride in weather no colder than 45F (7.2C). this time I had on the bulging ski over-pants, Widder vest and heated grips on. I got home at 7:50 and the garage door opened before I turned the key off. She must'a heard my no brakes, 3rd--2nd--1st gear downshifts to the driveway. Cool.
BTW, We'll NEVER go back up North to live, no matter what happens! We hate even visiting at Thanksgiving.

I strongly agree! just put on your hoodie, motorcycle jacket and turn on your heated grips. You should be good to go. It's been anywhere in the 40's (degrees F) when I wake up in the morning and ride to work. I enjoy my short winters down here in FL. I never realized how much I loved the cold since I moved down here from Chicago. I'm enjoying the cold weather while it lasts.
I love the cold. It's the snow and ice I don't like. Where can I move to....where it's in the 50's (degrees F) most of the year and it never snows? F*ck Seattle and the UK because us bikers HATE the rain.
Re: Anybody else tired of winter?
CycleRob,
I am in envy of your position. Some day I too hope to say "I'll never move back to Connecticut".
Winter, snow and freezing temps. are evil!

Might as well face it...I'm addicted to motorcycles... Might as well face it...
