gday everyone. I have just joined up and want to say hello. I have been a bronze rockster owner since 2004 and love it. I have had 3 R65's 2 K75S' 2 R80's so you could say I like BMW's. The rockster has 70000 ks on it with no problems on it until now. According to the bmw dealer I needed two rubber Orings in the fuel injection as the old ones had perished. I pick the bike on this Saturday so I will let you know how it all went. Also putting a secondhand Remus system on it in three weeks time so that should give it a bit of sound and go.

I have a Remus exhaust, and the note is good! Get an eprom
Adventure before dimentia

gday Davelee99, is the eprom like a power commander? I live in west australia and have not heard of an eprom. was the remus a straight bolt on? Will I need an exhaust sealant for the y pipe where it meets the headers and were it joins the muffler? Any info would be of great help. thanks

I have been the owner of an 03 model Rockster since 7 January. It immediately needed a trip to the local renowned repair shop, for a fix to a slipping clutch - explained as being due to a leaking gearbox seal. I hope to pick her up again in a couple of days. She has only 19000 kms on the clock and I picked her up at a very good price, despite the need for this repair. I registered my name just after the problem was diagnosed, hence 'lemonbuyer' !
I am a happy Ducati ST3 owner (that's the 992cc, 3-valve motor) but I often ride in company with a 1200GS and a 'straight' R1150R, so I know how subtle these bikes are in accomplishing great things, hence my interest. I'm keeping Désirée my beautiful silver Duke though!
The bike is in the best colour - copper/orange / Tiger scheme or whatever it's called!
Just like Ducati.ms, this Beemer forum is a mine of information and, in time, friendship no doubt.
I can't wait to get some more km under my Rockster's shaft

Update on previous post.
Have now done about 400kms in two days since getting the back back from the shop on Monday. Riding in the evenings around the local twisties.
What a great bike the Rockster is !! Compared with my Duke ST3 it's like chalk and cheese, but both get the blood flowing with their different characteristics. My Duke has very well set up and upgraded suspension, so it's a high base to compare against, but I also love the telelever front-end of the Rockster and the different solid feel of the bike in regards to roadholding. It changes lean angle so easily too, no doubt largely due to the low c.g. of the boxer engine.
Removing the Staintune 'dB-killer' insert really makes the bike sound good. I also found with the insert fitted, that the exhaust flow impinged against the rear plastic mudguard edge and melted it slightly after a run of about 40 kms, some of that at speed. Anyone else had this problem?

Yup - that happened to me when running a Remus Y-pipe and the OE can. The Catalyser "normally" traps most of the exhaust heat - so if you run without it you HAVE to have a free flowing exhaust otherwise the can and the slower exhaust flow in the can gets very hot and will melt pannier plastic.
