Inasmuch as I bought my RR at the beginning of December, the process of getting it set up the way I want it could be construed as "Christmas presents for the bike". Yeah, that's the ticket!

So far:
- Cee Bailey 20" windscreen
- Zumo cradle & mount (I already had the Zumo)
- Moto-Techniques risers
- Bags-Connection Daypack II tank bag
- SW-MOTECH gascap bottom ring
- X-Head cylinder head guards
- Potentiometer cover
- Tools, tools, and a few more tools

Whew! I think I just sprained something. My wallet.

Or the "Neighbors rushing over to help you pick the bike back up, possibly off of you. That's about what I figure would happen if I were to try a burn out.

Think of them as modern hippo-hands.. they seem to fit better, are made for the bike, and have a clear vinyl window in them so you can see the controls. Remains to be seen how well they work (mebbe tomorrow - snow is almost gone!)

My 09 grey R1200R got me for Christmas
After 40 years with BMWs (with a few years out for kids) and 7 BMWs in the family, this year we added our first NEW bikes. In April my wife got an 09 F650GS and then a week ago we found an orphaned bike up at the dealer's with all the incentives in place. SWMBO insisted that we really should give it a home and so it was delivered the day before Christmas - just in time to surprise the kids when they arrived. Unfortunately it will probably sit for a few months unless we have an unusual VT winter and then my 00 R1150GS will have to share my time with the new (un-named as yet) bike.
No major farkles yet. Replaced the standard bag mounts with the rear case mounts (no case though) and the BMW cylinder head guards since they worked well on my GS. The dealer mounted a set of R1200GS handguards apparently without major issues. Have a spare cradle for the Zumo, but need to get the mounting bits and power cable. The dealer also routed the bike' accessory socket directly to the battery so I can keep the bike charged this winter. The Battery Tender Plus will get a work-out!

Just in case you should be serious about these burnouts......

Beware! With the combined brake action that could be the death of your rear brake.
Manual contains a warning on just that.

Ah - hadn't thought of that.. Guess doing it on the new moto lift with the front wheel clamped would be cheating?

I did get to try out the Wunderlich grip-muffs (Mini-Hippohands) yesterday.. Was quite nice and very easy to get used to. No drafts around my hands made the heated grips even more effective. Should help extend my riding into the mid 30's..

Come-on guys. You just put your front wheel up against the front of the burn out pit and proceed to smoke your rear tire, till it pops, while all the drunks cheer you on. What kind of bars do you all hang out in anyway?.

Wow, they look warm! Not sure why they are SO BIG (long) though, they extend almost to the triple trees!

Hadn't seen those - but they are more than twice what the Wunderlich ones cost. I haven't done a wet weather test of the Wunderlich ones, but dry cold weather they rock, and they do claim to be water-resistant. $83 vs $185? Can't see the $100 difference.
