2009 Turkey Pro National Report and 'Slow Race' Results

It was another great day to be on two wheels! The 2009 Turkey Pro National was a huge success thanks to Al Hartman and all the volunteers that made it possible. The weather was beautiful and I can't help but wonder if Snuffy didn't have something to do with that! It turned out to be one of the warmest TPN's in quite a while, which was much deserved after last years forecast. And the motorcycles that were ridden to the event were some of the most diverse and interesting specimens this side of the Guggenheim exhibit. Not to mention some of Al's bikes that were on display in his garage. Some real cool stuff!

Keeping with the tradition of the Turkey Pro National, which Snuffy started 24 years ago, the event would not have been complete without the 'Slow Race'. The object, of course, is to ride your motorcycle on the pre-determined course and finish with the highest elapsed time without putting your feet down. Sounds easy, right? Well, it isn't! This isn't the traditional straight line 'Harley-Davidson' slow race. It's a slippery, grassy, purposely imperfect oval with some elevation changes that Al created for this years event. Tough stuff.....just look at all the DNF's below. All and all, a lot of fun watching, 'racing' or both!
