Thinking about selling my Rockster

Post by photojar »

Any idea on the best way to sell a Rockster and how much to ask? I took it to a couple dealerships and one offer was ridiculous, they offered $2500. I know they're looking at wholesale but that was kind of insulting. KBB puts wholesale at $5400.

Any help would be appreciated. Or is you know anyone looking to buy that would be great too!

Many things to consider;
year
mileage
condition
extras (only expect 50% in return)
location (time of year)

trade in to dealer is good for "not having the bike" and taking a loss however, no bike and no hassel with "cheap buyers" that will lowball your price and if all goes well, a pleasant selling experience

E-Bay, Craig's List and other marketplace locations will reflect "like" bikes in the 5K range

In selling many truths;
Seller - my bike is worth the money; taken care of, reliable, never down, 100% maintained by BMW specialist, good tires....etc...

Buyer - your asking too much for the bike; needs tires, needs service, has damage

I've sold one bike on E-bay = great experience and listed on bike on BMW Marketplace = great experience

Good luck

When ever I'm considering buying or selling I always start here:
NADA http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx? ... 1&m=12&c=1
Bluebook http://www.kbb.com/othervehicles

Then check craigslist and ebay to see what they're typically going for.

That should give you a bracket. From there, price it depending how fast you want to sell it.

Ves +1

The used guides are a bit biased towrds the high end of the spectrm. I don't know why, maybe they are influenced by the dealers........in any event. it is wise to check the ulse of your market. Also remember that in general the markets are somewhat depressed at this time.

Good luck.
