Buell shuting down
Just saw the Milwaukee news. H D is closing Buell. Never owned one but feel bad for all the people who work there. Was just last year they had the 25th party at Road America, Elkhart Lake. I was there and was fun to see and be around. And even thought maybe, and I mean maybe look into owning one in the future.

I'm a Buell owner and big fan of the man and his pursuit of a dream. Buell Motorcycle Company demonstrated a passion for daring development and unfailing customer support.

...darn...
I've never ridden a Buell. I've thought that I might someday though.

Sad to hear....I test rode a couple of Buells Before I bought my R. I really always liked them. True American sport bike! After 25 years I thought they were headed in the right direction. Sucks that all of the American bikes out there, you can choose from a cruiser and......a cruiser!

Go to their website and watch the sad sad video:

I am stunned!! After he finally got it the way it should be, with a real DOHC water cooled twin, fuel in the frame, etc then the crashing US economy kills it.
The completely disrespectful full page magazine advertisement showing a crushed, mangled square cube from a salvage yard crushing machine that was once a single cylinder Buell Blast now makes more sense. Maybe it was Buell Blast bike litigation(s) that killed the company?

You watch, Eric will be back.
He doesn't strike me the kind of guy to give up, especially now, on the verge of 'breaking through'.
IMHO of course...

I think he's still working at Harley - only Harley killed the product line. I think the worst part (for Eric Buell) is Harley owns the name and motorcycle! It's not like he can go off and start making them independently again unless he comes up with a new name and design.Mollygrubber wrote:You watch, Eric will be back.

Too bad - they were getting competitive in the racing world.

Good for him...I would hope to see more than sport bikes from Buell as I was always interested in Buell bikes.

Go Buell!
Still have my XB (tough seller's market). Every time I look at the Buell, the design's simple elegance stands out. Not a statement that matches such a paint-shaking, bumpy lump of Sportster v-twin and precision vacuum cast alloys, but the bike's elegant nonetheless. Eye of the beholder and all that.
(1000th post in current Beemer board is about Buell!)
